The Marist War Eagles downed South Effingham 3-0 in the Class AAAA state semifinals tennis match Monday, earning a spot in Saturday’s state championship.
Grant Kelly and Chase Krouskos beat Ryan Nease and Jonathan Graham 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and Eric Thompson and Chris Bertasi finished the doubles sweep with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Ben Grayson and Matt Hudson at No. 2 seed.
Marist’s Jeff Dockter beat Kyle Howell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
Marist will meet River Ridge, a 3-0 win over Spalding in the other semifinal, Saturday at Clayton County International Park for the Class AAAA title. South Effingham ended its season at 20-3.
