Summers, Brennan each claim low honors

Walker Summers posted the low round, shooting a 39, and Effingham County took a three-way golf match Thursday at The Landings. Playing on the Marshwood course in a nine-hole match, the Rebels shot a 175, two shots in front of South Effingham and four ahead of Savannah Country Day. Josh Dodd and Trent Dickerson each carded a 44 for Effingham, and Trevan Heichal had a 48. Josh Shearouse led South Effingham with a 40. Ben Brennan fired a 41, Logan Sapp posted a 46 and Michael Griffith came in at 50. India Davis and Katie Nelson each shot a 49 for the Lady Mustangs. Emilee Mikulsky had a 50 for Effingham County, and Poppy Arnold had a 59. The Mustangs took a three-team match Monday at Lost Plantation, posting a team total of 169. Brennan shot the low round of the nine-hole match, carding a 37. Sapp and Griffith each finished with a 43, and Shearouse came in with a 46. Trevor Dailey led Statesboro (177) with a 37. JordanWoody fired a 40, Jorge Mercer shot a 48 and Jackson Melton had a 52. Effingham was two shots behind Statesboro. Malloy Tootle shot a 43, Dickerson had a 43, Heichal posted a 45 and Walker Summers had a 47. Mikulsky shota 48 to lead the girls’ competition, and teammate Rose Moss shot a 58. SEHS won with a 103, as Davis fired a 49 and Kaitlin Tanguay shot a 54. Grace Draughn had a 51 for Statesboro.
