Rebels to host Forest Park in state soccer opener

The Effingham County Rebels will open the Class AAAAA state boys soccer playoffs at home today against Forest Park. Effingham, now 18-3, won the Region 3-AAAAA championship with a 4-2 victory over Coffee. In winning three region tournament games, the Rebels outscored their opposition 13-4. The Rebels will host the Panthers today at 6:30 p.m. at Rebel Field. South Effingham, after its 1-0 upset win over Glynn Academy, fell 1-0 to Coffee in the second round. The Mustangs will open the state playoffs Wednesday on the road against McIntosh.
