SEHS softball holds awards banquet

The South Effingham High School softball team held its awards banquet last week, handing out honors for the 2015 season. Cason Smith was recognized for having the highest batting average, .447, and Autumn Conaway was honored as the most productive hitter, with 38 RBIs. Brianna Lawson had the lowest earned run average, 2.28, and Smith also won for best defensive player after posting a 1.000 fielding percentage. Chloe Horne was named recipient of the coach’s award, and Conaway and Smith were the top two on the hitting points chart. Conaway had 86 points and Smith had 68. Horne also was honored as having the highest grade point average among the team’s juniors. Smith won for the highest GPA among sophomores, and Alexa Johanson had the highest GPA award in the freshman class. Conaway won the senior GPA distinction and the highest overall GPA award went to Kastin Belogorska. On the junior varsity, Re-Ann McCloy won the coach’s award and Rachel Mixon was named best defensive player. Hitting points chart awards went to McCloy, Mixon, Allie Ergle and Courtney Cubbedge.
