Cross Creek runs past SEHS girls

Four Lady Razorbacks scored in double figures, and Cross Creek cruised to an 86-54 win over South Effingham in the Class AAAAA girls basketball state playoffs last Tuesday. The loss ended the Lady Mustangs’ season at 23-5. Alana Davis had 30 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Lady Razorbacks, and Nya Daniels added 23 points. Valen Avery and Jana’zia Marshall each scored 12 points in the win. Cross Creek raced out to a 28-21 lead in the first quarter and stretched the advantage to 47-33 at halftime. The Lady Razorbacks outscored the Lady Mustangs 19-6 in the final quarter. It was the final game for three Lady Mustangs seniors — Leverett, Diera Newberry and Leilani Beasley, who missed much of the season with an injury. South Effingham, which ended the regular season ranked No. 5 in the state by Score Atlanta, will return guards Faith Harris, Cheyenne Boswell, Mallori Jenkins and Jordan Bisard and forward Jillian Pelote. No. 2-ranked Southwest DeKalb downed Cross Creek 62-42 Friday night.
