ECHS, SEHS soccer teams split in first meeting of year

The South Effingham boys soccer team blanked the Effingham County Rebels 3-0, running their Region 3-AAAAA record to 2-0. The Mustangs improved to 4-0 on the season with a 1-0 win over Savannah Christian on Thursday. The Effingham County Lady Rebels posted a 4-1 victory over in-county rival South Effingham last Tuesday in their Region 3-AAAAA soccer opener. Kailey Kessler netted the lone goal for the Lady Mustangs. The Lady Mustangs, 1-1 in the region, fell to 2-2 on the season after a 4-0 loss to Savannah Christian. The Effingham girls fell 2-1 to Statesboro on Friday, and the Blue Devils boys topped the Rebels 3-2. The Rebels boys slipped to 3-3 on the year and 0-2 in the region. The Lady Rebels, 4-1-1 on the season and 1-1 in the region, will host Bradwell on Friday and Savannah Christian on Tuesday, with the boys games to follow. South Effingham will host Richmond Hill on Thursday, with the girls game to start at 5 p.m., and host Bradwell on Tuesday.
