The Rebels boys basketball team came back from an early 12-3 deficit to take a 41-25 halftime lead and roll to a 72-46 victory in their only scrimmage before the regular season. Darryl "Boss" Wright had 17 points and 11 rebounds. They play at home tomorrow (Tue. 11/18) vs. Savannah Country Day in their first regular season game and Sat. 11/22 vs. Richmond Hill. Basketball Season is Here

As a long time Basketball fan I am looking forward to catching some local High School games this season. The first games of the year are so full of anticipation and hope and the kids are really excited.

I am especially excited about watching Karl Demasi coach the EC girls who bring back a lot of experience. For those of you who don't know Darl Demasi he brings a wealth of basketball knowledge and coaching experience to the area and I am sure he will have those EC girls well prepared.

Embarrassed and disappointed

Well, last week I blogged about being disappointed in the lack of sportsmanship of the other team not to take a knee when an opposing player was injured. I guess I was expecting some courtesy on their part.
BUT after what some of the SEHS players did this week by creating a vulgar video about ECHS and posting it on the Internet, I am thoroughly disgusted, disappointed and embarrassed by their actions as an Effingham resident.

Disappointing sportsmanship

I attended the SEHS vs. Beach game tonight and was very disappointed when the Beach bench did not "take a knee" when SEHS's Manker was injured. That was rude and in poor taste. I only saw one young man actually kneel. At least he did the right thing when his teammates wouldn't follow.
But on the other hand, our Mustangs (our young men on the side line and our young ladies cheering) showed great concern when any player was injured. They were all kneeling before I would realize that a player had even been injured. Way to go, Stangs! ... [Read More]
